	Overview The Chevrolet Corvette originated in 1953 and is one of the world's longest-running nameplates. The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is a takeoff from the 2005 C6. Powertrain and Performance For 2008, the base coupe is powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 that produces 430 hp and 424 pound-feet of torque. An optional performance exhaust contributes to another 6 hp. All Corvettes have a standard six-speed manual gearbox, while a six-speed paddle-shift automatic is a no-cost option. The Corvette Coupe propels from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds and hits a top speed of 190 mph. Build and Styling The standard Corvette Coupe features a removable roof panel, keyless entry and startup, full power accessories, xenon headlamps, CD player and audio input jack, satellite radio, OnStar telematics, auto-dimming mirrors, leather seats, six-way power driver seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Optional features include a custom two-tone leather interior (with leather covering the dash top, console top, and armrests), a navigation system, a transparent roof panel, head-up display, driver-seat memory, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system. Simple controls, large gauges, and massive cargo capacity make the coupe easy for daily rides. Safety Features Active Handling (stability control system) and anti-lock disc brakes are standard safety equipment in the 2008 Coupe. Active Handling gives non-invasive assistance and helps the driver with more leeway in high performance driving mode and maintains a safety net. Side-impact airbags are optional.
