The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 made its historic debut in 2001. A remake of an earlier Z06 from the '60s, Z06 continues to be a mega-performance machine. The 2008 Corvette Z06 is super fast with race car technology and comes with a fixed-roof coupe that displays a track-ready suspension and allows better firmness.
Powertrain and Performance
For 2008, the Z06 is charged with a 7.0-liter V-8 that generates 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It is available in three trim levels: 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ. The Z06 zips a 0-60 sprint within 4 seconds. Fuel economy stands at 16 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway for a manual-transmission. The dry-sump oil system on the Z06 LS7 engine prevents oil starvation on high-g corners or under heavy braking.
Build and Styling
The Z06 comes with most of the Corvette Coupe's standard features such as keyless entry and startup, xenon headlamps, full power accessories, CD player, audio input jack, satellite radio, OnStar telematics, auto-dimming mirrors, leather seats, power driver seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Z06 gains lightweight components such as a lighter frame, larger wheels and tires, more stiffly tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and special sport seats. The 2008 Z06 is equipped with optional features which include two-tone leather interior (with leather covering the dash top, console top, and armrests), a navigation system, head-up display, driver-seat memory, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety Features
Standard safety equipment includes a superb stability control system known as Active Handling and anti-lock disc brakes. Side-impact airbags are optional features.
